Growth factors play an important role in regulating cell growth, proliferation and differentiation by binding to their receptor. There are several families of growth factors and each has specific target cell and receptor types. Events such as cell migration, survival, adhesion, proliferation, growth and differentiation are triggered by the binding of the specific growth factor receptor, which stimulates cellular signal transduction pathways.
It has been theorized that the mechanism underlying the functioning of growth factors is linked to the fact that when they are applied to the skin in high concentrations, a fraction penetrates the superficial epidermis and initiates a chain of communication that leads to the stimulation of dermal fibroblasts to produce collagen. By stimulating biochemical pathways, they promote the repair and regeneration of skin tissue and encourage the formation of collagen and elastic fibres, giving the skin greater elasticity.
Thus, by stimulating the proliferation of cells such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes, growth factors play an important role in the skin repair process, inducing re-epithelisation by replacing disorganised collagen and elastin structures.
The effectiveness and synthesis of collagen require the involvement of several growth factors: the synergistic interaction of several growth factors results in skin repair and regeneration. No single growth factor is the sole determinant in the outcome of skin rejuvenation.

HOW TO USE
